|Trisha + Ray| 50 Years of Love and Marriage

This summer, I was so blessed to be able to accompany my beloved grandparents on a very special trip. It was my grandparents 50th anniversary, and in my grandmother’s world-traveler fashion, we took a cruise to go explore Alaska to celebrate! On that trip, my grandma had planned to surprise my grandpa with a vow renewal for their 50th anniversary! Wow right? How romantic!

My grandparents, Trisha + Ray, were married on in a small ceremony hosted by their church in July 1967, after my grandfather had met her working as a secretary in an office in downtown Campbell, in what is now the Sushi Confidential building! My grandma tells me that when my grandpa learned that she was dating several men when they first met, he decided he would take her out for every meal he could to keep her out of the clutches of the other men and hopefully, she would fall for him instead. Sounds like he fell hard to me!

These two lovebirds settled in the countryside of Gilroy, CA, and had two children, my Mom, Katherine, and my aunt, Keri. Fifty years after their marriage, they have so many wonderful memories to look back on, three grandkids, and a massive family that never fails to fill their house on holidays!

Through life’s crazy ups and downs, these two have managed to make it work for fifty years! Fifty, that’s incredible folks! So to celebrate, my grandparents decided they wanted to take a cruise with the family to somewhere we could all enjoy. She told us, that the best present we could ever give her, was two weeks of family dinners and exploring together. Imagine my surprise, when two weeks before, she called me to tell me that she had actually planned a surprise vow renewal for and my grandpa and asked if I could take some photos for them the day of! I don’t think I have ever felt so blessed as when she asked me! I got to not only see my grandparents married after fifty years, but to see them get married again, and to get to gift them with some beautiful photos as well? There was nothing that I would rather do.

These two tied the knot, again, on the Princess Cruise ship the Grand Princess and were married by the ship's captain in a simple ceremony surrounded by their family. They celebrated with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a massive dinner with their children, and their grandchildren.

Congratulations to Trisha and Ray, Married for fifty years! I love you both so incredibly much, and I am so grateful to have you both in my life! Thank you for all that you have done for our family, and all the love, care, and patience you have shown our family. Grandpa, thank you for being my kind, soft-spoken, and humorous grandfather, you mean the world to me, and I hope we have many more years together. Grandma, thank you for being my daring, intelligent, and adventurous grandmother, and for teaching me to be stubborn, to be brave, and that there is nothing that I can't-do just because I’m a woman.

P.S. Please be safe on your adventures because we all know you’ll never stop traveling! ;)
